Art & Industry Ltd. sells the finest in twentieth century and contemporary design to collectors, interior design professionals, and dealers around the globe. As Dr. Propper Ltd., we also offer our inventory for rental to the television, film and advertising industries.
When we opened our doors on Wooster Street in 1983 as Art & Industrial Design, we were one of the first galleries in New York to celebrate and promote twentieth century design. Over the years we have rented and sold the finest designs from the Art Deco, Mid-Century, Pop, Post-Modern and contemporary periods. Our collection has included works many of the leading designers of the twentieth century, including Alvar Aalto, Eero Aarnio, Joe Colombo, Le Corbusier, Ray and Charles Eames, Frank Gehry, Olivier Mourgue, George Nelson, Gio Ponti, Gaetano Pesce, Mies van der Rohe, Paolo Venini, Hans Wegner, and many others. Our collection also includes works by contemporary artists such as Mattia Bonetti, Humberto and Fernando Campana, Marc Newson, Karim Rashid and Philippe Starck.
Our large and diverse collection is comprised of furniture, lighting, fine art, art glass and pottery, designer leather goods, electronics, jewelry, and much more. Our online inventory represents a fraction of our collection, so please contact us if you need help sourcing the ideal item.
Our 6,000 foot gallery at 50 Great Jones Street is located between Lafayette and Bowery, in the heart of the NOHO district. We are open Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 6 PM, and on Saturdays from 12 to 5 PM. Fee parking is available on the corner of Lafayette and Great Jones, and we are conveniently located near the subway stops at Astor Place (6), Broadway & Lafayette (6), Houston Street (B, D & F), 8th Street NYU (N & R), and Prince St (N & R).
